This is the 2nd installment in the Pampered Pets series. I was
surprised as I started reading that the main character was different in
this book than the first. In the first the main person was Caro a pet
therapist. In this book the main person is Melanie, Caro's cousin.
Melanie have a running feud about a brooch. They keep stealing it from
one another.
This book opens up where the last book ended at the
Fur Ball. She is accosted at the ball by Tova who accuses Melanie of
having fleas at her shop, The Bow Wow Boutique. While they are having
there discussion. Mona, the self pronounced bell of the ball decided to
get involved. Mona is not very likeable and does whatever she please
regardless of how it will affect others. Fluffy is Mona's diva dog.
Several
days after the ball Fluffy winds up at Mel's shop. After several
unanswered calls to Mona, Melanie decides to drop fluffy off. When she
arrives she follows Fluffy into the house only to discover that Mona is
dead, struck by Fluffy's Emmy. What follows is Melanie's attempt to
steer the police to another suspect, when they begin to focus on her
best friend Darby. Melanie ignores police warnings and does her best to
figure out who killed Mona.
I enjoyed this installment of the
Pampered Pet series just as much as the first. The switch of sleuths
threw me, but since Caro was still a character in the story. I love the
underlying theme of the brooch. Great story!
I love animals and cozy mysteries. I think I need to read this series!! :)
